Welcome to Transition to School at Mangere Central!
Transitioning to school for the first time is not always an easy and smooth transition process for students. Equally for parents this can be a difficult experience too. Mangere Central School's transition to School programme aims to reduce the anxiety involved with starting school for the first time, increase confidence, build social skills and raise pre literacy and numeracy skills. It aims to strengthen the links between home and school by giving parents the confidence and tools supporting their chidlren at school. When a child is 10 weeks out from their fitfth birthday, students are encouraged to pre enrol to school and participate in the transition to school programme. This operates every Friday 10.00-11.00am. There are two components to the programme, parent and child time together and parent and child time without each other. The later allows parents to meet iwth other parents over tea and coffee. A guest speaker is invited to meet with parents. While the former focuses on building the relationship between teaching and learning, home and school through fun literacy, numeracy and social activities.
